Abortion

Unborn children are, in the words of Pope Francis, "the most defenseless and innocent among us" (The Joy of the Gospel, 213). According to the World Health Organization, there are on average 120,000 abortions per day globally.
Catholic social teaching clearly includes the unborn child as a person whose dignity, because it is a creation of God, is sacred. Our educational programs and our legislative advocacy are based on the principle of the life and dignity of the human person.

Educational Resources & Events

  • Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities
The Pastoral Plan contains four major "pillars" that the U.S. Bishops have set forth as elements necessary for authentic Catholic pro-life efforts in America: Public Information & Education; Public Policy; Pastoral Care; and Prayer. How is God calling you to serve the Culture of Life?
  • St. Charles Borromeo Spiritual Adoption Ministry
This parish has developed all the documents needed to establish or enhance a Spiritual Adoption ministry at your parish, school or other location. Spiritual Adoption is a powerful intercessory prayer ministry based on our belief that God will spare a child from abortion when we intercede for that child and her or his family and the circumstances that are leading them to consider abortion. Additional information available at spiritualadoption.stcharlesb.org.
