Our office represents Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), Catholic Relief
Services (CRS) and Pontifical Mission Societies. We also work closely with the U.S.
Catholic Bishops’ Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development, which has
great resources for parishes and schools wishing to implement Catholic social teaching.
Follow the links in the right navigation menu for more details and resources pertaining to each organization.
CCHD - Catholic Campaign for Human Development
A national program of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops supports the efforts of low-income people seeking to change the social,
political and economic conditions that perpetuate poverty. It began in 1970 in all dioceses as a commitment to promote social and economic
justice by addressing the root causes of poverty. Through the archdiocesan Build Hope collection in September, CCHD provides grants to
groups of low-income people working for social change and also educates Catholics about Catholic social doctrine and its applications.
CRS - Catholic Relief Services Grants and Programs
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the motivating force behind the activities and programs of Catholic Relief Services as it pertains to
the alleviation of human suffering, the development of people and the fostering of charity and justice in the world. CRS has operations
in nearly 100 countries around the world assisting people on the basis of need, not creed, race or nationality. CRS maintains strict
standards of efficiency and accountability with 92% of all support going directly to programs to help the poor.
Pontifical Mission Societies
According to the teaching of Vatican Council II, the Pontifical Mission Societies are institutions of the Universal Church
and of each local church. Therefore, unlike any other mission organization, the Pontifical Mission Societies are both Pontifical
and Episcopal in nature. And, as such, the Pontifical Mission Societies are recognized as the principal instrument for educating
the faithful to an awareness of the Church’s universal mission and for encouraging their support, in prayer and sacrifice, for
the evangelizing mission of the Church among two-thirds of the human family.
Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development
We also work closely with the Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development
the national public policy agency of the U.S. Catholic Bishops which has great resources for parishes wishing to implement Catholic social teaching.
