Marriage

"For it is Christ who, by virtue of the fact that marriage of baptized persons has been raised to a sacrament, confers upon Christian married couples a special mission as apostles, sending them as workers into His vineyard, and, in a very special way, into this field of the family."
~ Blessed Pope John Paul II, On the Family, no. 71

Consultation on the Practice of Marriage Preparation
In February 2006, experts met with the USCCB Bishops' Committee on Marriage & Family Life to discuss the current practice of marriage preparation in the Church. The consultation was organized around 5 dimensions of marriage preparation present in virtually all programs, though not always in the same way or extent. These dimensions can be considered foundational to the current practice of this ministry and are the basis for future development and change.
